January 2017 - While the global annual mean air temperature is likely to reach its highest level in 2016 (based on a provisional report by the WMO, the annual mean air temperature anomaly across Europe for 2016 was not record-breaking but ranks 6th in the list of warmest years in the series since 1950. January 2017 - Updates have been included for Hungary up to the end of 2015, kindly provided by the Hungarian Meteorological Service.
